RCA offered four types of tele­vi­sion receivers for sale to in 1939.… Their prices, rang­ing from U.S. $199.50 to $600, were con­sid­ered high. Adver­tis­ing was ini­tially aimed at the wealthy; depict­ing view­ers dressed in evening suits and gowns to watch TV.
